While I
was on honeymoon in Cuba, I had an idea for a new feature for our
main website. When I travel I tend to go to both places I know and
love and I also like to find new places to go. However, there are so
many places in the world, getting the inspiration and ideas to see
places can sometimes be hard. |
 |
So my idea is fairly simple. As well
as advising on and selling travel, I obviously love to travel too. I run
a number of specialist travel websites but my journeys also take me to
other places which I never get to share with anyone....until now. I've
decided to create a new section to this website called "Follow in our
footsteps". After my own travels, I will add some information about the
places I've visited. I'll include why I chose to go there, what I booked
and what it was like along with any other information I think you may
find of interest. To see what I thought of Cuba, visit the new "Follow
in our footsteps" page
NEW VENTURES
26 Mar 2007
In the last couple of weeks, I've
signed an agreement to offer overseas properties for sale. The website
domain is registered and hopefully, it will be up and running shortly.
I'll give a fuller update when its ready. Another new website has also
been launched which allows BBM Explorer customers to book their travel
online. I've added a line to the main page and the direct URL is
www.bbmexplorer.explorertravel.co.uk.
The dive show at ExCeL was another
useful exercise. I had further conversations with one particular company
who I hope to take on as a preferred supplier. Again, I'll give more
information once it progresses. I also met up with Emperor Divers and
had a useful chat with them.
My new African travel website has
been submitted and is awaiting construction. It will cover travel in
South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique, Zambia, Kenya, Tanzania and
Zanzibar. There are also options to add extensions to the Indian islands
resorts in Mauritius and the Seychelles.
I've also been working on the Sports
Fan Explorer website which will provide package trips to various
sporting events such as the Formula 1 Grand Prix, Tour de France and the
Paris Airshow. Once its all complete, I'll provide all the details.
PROGRESS IN EARLY
2007
5 Mar 2007
Since my last update back in
December, things have progressed nicely on all fronts and time has flown
by. I've been steadily marketing my Egypt and Russia travel and early
results are giving me a lot of encouragement that I have moved into good
markets. Although it's up and running, like any website my Rodina
Explorer website
www.rodina.explorertravel.co.uk still
needs a lot of fine tuning. I'm fairly happy with the Egypt website
www.redseaexplorer.com
so I've been spending more time developing other areas of the
business.
I've been spending a lot of time and
money developing my flights website,
www.flyghts.eu This website is designed
to be an information source for people look for flights to various
destinations. From the main page, click on the "destinations directory"
or the direct link is
www.flyghts.eu/routes.php From there,
select a country and airport and you will see a list of airlines and
destination you can fly to from your chosen airport. I originally
planned to limit this to low cost airlines but with many scheduled
airlines also offering great prices on tickets, I decided to include
them too. Obviously, this has meant a huge increase in my work load but
eventually, it will be a very useful tool for travel agents and
travellers alike to help plan journeys.
My proposed trip to visit Ypres fell
through at the last moment but the website is practically ready for
market, just a few amendments are needed. Next, I'm turning my
attentions to my new website covering Southern Africa. Africa is such a
fabulous destination so I'm really excited about setting up a new
website to cover travel there. I would expect the website to be up and
running by the end of March.
My sports travel website, Sports Fan
Explorer, is also pretty close to launch although it will be small scale
compared to Egypt, Russia and Africa. I'll focus mainly on selling
flight and accommodation packages to people so it's a matter of keeping
an eye out for the bargains and letting people know about them.
This weekend, I'm off to the Dive
Show at Excel in London. It barely seems 6 months since I went to the
show at the NEC. I've already got a couple of contacts I need to speak
to and hopefully, I'll track down some new leads while I'm there.
